“[I’m] really proud of th...

Top Line: Breaking down the NHL trade deadline

There you have it — the dreaded NHL trade deadline has passed. To my fellow Bruins fans, unfortunately, March 7 was not a dream. Here is a breakdown of the major storylines of a shocking day of trades.
The Avs are going for glory
In a trade that shocked hockey fans everywhere, the Colorado Avalanche, or the Avs, traded star forward Mikko Rantanen to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for forward Martin Nečas Jan. 24.
Since then, Colorado had the most successful and productive trade decisions...

The road to nationals: How Northeastern men’s club hockey is preparing for its 4th consecutive appearance

The Northeastern men’s club hockey team will play in the American Collegiate Hockey Association, or ACHA, March 14 to 18 in St. Louis, Mo.
The team ranked No. 1 in the Northeast Region Dec. 8, 2024, before falling to third at the regular season’s conclusion. As the third place team, the Huskies played in the regional tournament for the first time in three years. In the past two years the team received an automatic bid to nationals, so the Huskies had a lot on the line going into the playoffs....

Top Line: What went right and what went wrong for each team in the 4 Nations Faceoff

It’s official: Team Canada has taken the first ever 4 Nations Faceoff over their rival, Team USA, in a matchup that went beyond the scope of hockey. Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid netted the game winning goal in overtime, making Canada victorious, 3-2 Feb. 20.
The 4 Nations Faceoff replaced the All Star Skills Competition and game with a tournament between the United States, Canada, Finland and Sweden. The tournament consisted of six round-robin style matchups. The two teams with the hi...

For the 21st year in a row, the Boston Red Sox beat Northeastern baseball

The Northeastern baseball team (2-1, 0-0 CAA) took on the Boston Red Sox Feb. 21 in the teams’ annual faceoff that dates back more than two decades to Feb. 21, 2004. The matchup marks the beginning of the Red Sox preseason. Going into the matchup, the Huskies had yet to win a game in the history of the contest and the team continued that streak, losing 5-2.
Right-handed pitcher Brian Van Belle got the start for the Sox, striking out the side in the top of the first inning.
In the next inning, t...

Extended Super Bowl LIX predictions: Deciding factors and players

It’s finally here: Super Bowl LIX. As we head into the final days of the 2024-2025 NFL season, The Huntington News’ fantasy football writers set their own predictions for the game and identified the keys to their teams’ success.
As much as it pains me to admit, Patrick Mahomes is a talented quarterback, and he has led his team to the Super Bowl three years in a row. But the Philadelphia Eagles are a different team than when they faced the Kansas City Chiefs two years ago in Arizona, and it show...

Super Bowl predictions: AFC, NFC championships

As we head into the conference championships, The Huntington News’ Fantasy Football writers predicted how these matchups will play out and who will be battling in the 2025 Super Bowl.

The Chiefs have been victorious every time they’ve played the Bills in the playoffs in recent years, with the Chiefs’ 13-second comeback in the 2021 (the game was January 2022) AFC divisional round being the mo...

Super Bowl predictions: The Wild Card rounds

There is a genuine argument that the American Football Conference, or AFC, has reigned supreme in the NFL over the last few seasons. The AFC’s Kansas City Chiefs have won the last two Super Bowls, and to make matters worse, there is not a single former MVP playing in the National Football Conference, or NFC, while there are three currently playing in the AFC: quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers, Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes. In fact, of the last seven MVPs awarded, all but two have gone to players f...

With 15 new additions to the Huskies this season, including nine freshmen, there are many upcoming stars to keep an eye out for.

The Huskies started off strong in the early minutes of the opening half, moving the ball well and looking for offensive opportunities. Northeastern maintained possession in the opening 10 minutes, keeping the ball in H...
